There is a ton of great local restaurants in the area if you know where to look or who to ask.
I agree that a huge benefit of Shreveport/Bossier is the shopping and dining options for the wives and families. The cab service was pretty good in town as well. Next time we go, the wife can go shopping while I play poker.
The one thing I dislike about Tunica is there is nothing to do except gamble. The boardwalk near the casinos is cool if you want to do some shopping. It was the best $1/3 game I have ever been in. Pots were routinely $100 before the flop. I only got to play for a couple of hours, but the $1/3 game was sick, sick, sick. The men's restroom being located in the poker room is pretty awesome. I stopped for a night in Shreveport on my way from Houston to Memphis.
